Miscanthus x giganteus

KSDK NewsChannel 5 - Grass Could Be Future Energy Source

According to the linked article; it's growing season is from early april to first frost. It does not require much fertilizer and can grow up to 15 feet in height. Up to 10 tonnes can be grown per acre. Claims of an EROEI of 3 for Miscanthus x giganteus based ethanol vs an EROEI of .34 for corn based ethanol.

Miscanthis x giganteus can be burned as is for heat, it could also be pelletized and perhaps burned in existing residential pellet fireplaces.

Note: the kudzu that is identified at the end of this article is not a 'switch grass' rather it is an invasive species that America has spread all over her southern states.
